Are you looking to get a federal tax ID number, but do not know where to start?

All businesses selling products or services that pay any kind of taxes and/or have employees must have a federal tax ID number (also known as an employer identification number or EIN).  Naturally, it is difficult to be “a business” and not sell a product or service, so if you are in the US this will likely apply to you as look to establish yourself online and sell from wholesale dropship product supplier programs.

The Tax Number is assigned solely to your business by the IRS to identify your business to several federal agencies responsible for the regulation of business.  If you plan on buying from wholesalers distributors and dropship suppliers, you will need to have a tax ID number before they will deal with you.  This will be one of the required fields in the wholesale supplier application.  For all of the suppliers in our network, you can view their full application process in the Supplier Information tab from your account. This will help you get started, but if you have any questions on the forms, just let the supplier contact (also listed in the Supplier Information tab in your account) know.  They get questions from new resellers as well as experienced resellers every day so do not be shy.

To set up a federal tax ID, just contact your nearest local IRS Field Office, or call the IRS Business and Specialty Tax Hotline at (800)-829-4933.  You will need to fill out IRS From SS-4 and you can download it directly from the Small Business Association Web site.  For resellers without employees, the IRS recommends you label the top of the form SS-4 “For Identification Purposes Only.”

Getting a federal Tax ID or a reseller certificate from your state is NOT a difficult process. They can easily be filled out online quickly.  If you want a successful business and want to sell products from wholesale dropship suppliers and avoid middlemen and scams, then this is the first step you should take.
